September is a month packed with unmissable events for Unilife residents both new and returning. With events being the perfect place to meet new neighbours and create new friendships there is certainly a buzz around the buildings at this time of year.
After successful Pizza Nights and Quiz Nights the biggest event of the month finally arrived….the greatly anticipated welcome party!
With a black and gold theme running through the welcome party, from invitations to decorations and even including the popular photo booth, the colours provided a touch of glamour to the event. Individual welcome party invites ribbon tied to door handles decorated the hallways in Middle Street, Park House, Earlsdon & St James ensured everyone knew the spectacular party was upcoming.
The buildings were transformed for the evening thanks to superstar Marius (Maintenance Manager) and his trusty team mate Alberto (Maintenance). Middle Street in Portsmouth was unrecognisable with a games section, food area and photo booth upstairs and DJ, Casino area and bar downstairs. Park House featured a stairway of cards leading to the bar area with the casino tables, pool table and table tennis table taking place in the main common room and finally the gym was the perfect base for the entertaining photo booth. Black and gold balloon bouquets and bunting plus the giant playing cards were the perfect finishing touches to the buildings.
Pose. Change. Enjoy. Those were the encouraging words given at the photo booth where residents took the opportunity to dress up using an array of props to pose alongside friends, neighbours and even staff. Photos were printed immediately so individuals could take away as a keepsake to pin on their studio noticeboards to reminisce on a fun and memorable evening with friends new and current. As well as the photobooth, a photographer was present throughout the evening capturing moments and these photos will be uploaded to our social media channels shortly. The Roulette and Blackjack casino tables with professional croupiers were a big hit throughout the evening with residents either going big and placing large bets with their Jolly Jester tokens or being cautious and carefully planning their bets. There were groans for losing and shrieks of joy for winning during the evening with the overall winner of the night taking home a gold gift bag of goodies which included a bottle of champagne, soft drinks in exclusive flavours and a selection of luxury chocolates.
Residents and their friends were able to enjoy the party atmosphere through the lively and seamless music selection whilst tasting a selection of delightful canapés with a glass of prosecco in hand. Of course, there was pizza and beer available to choose from too alongside a number of refreshing J20 flavours and non-alcoholic sparkling wine. The bright coloured mini tarts and enticing fruit kebabs were particularly popular amongst residents!
The Unilife Team were present throughout the evening serving drinks, chatting with residents and accepting challenges to compete at both Pool and Table Tennis. Frank (House Manager) was a popular contender for table tennis and although he played many talented residents he did in fact remain undefeated and victorious. Challenges from residents to beat Frank at future events are welcome! Iulia (Sales) enjoyed dancing in the bar area whilst serving both pink and white prosecco (living up to her reputation as dancing queen) and Marius (Maintenance Manager) took charge of the bar area ensuring residents received cool beverages through the night whilst surrounded by a lot of ice! Kim (Sales Manager) took the opportunity to strike up a number of poses at the photo booth with residents whilst Antony (Maintenance) enjoyed being the DJ at Park House and playing pool throughout the evening.
The Welcome Party was another fantastic opportunity for residents to meet even more Unilife neighbours, continue building upon friendships created at previous events and catch up with all of the Unilife Team. It was great to see so many in attendance and enjoying the evening.
Another Welcome Party event come and gone but fear not as we at Unilife are #ultimatestudentliving and have plenty more in store for our residents!
