St. Patrick’s Day
It was St. Patrick’s Day, and we went green for the day to celebrate the annual official feast day of the patron saint of Ireland. It is a special day in the Irish calendar, where the heritage and culture of Ireland are celebrated, and the Irish traditionally wear green attire, including shamrocks (the national emblem) and hold festivals to commemorate the introduction of Christianity to Ireland, by Patrick in the fifth century. St.Patrick’s day is celebrated in more countries than any other national festival around the world, and so of course, we can’t wait to join in. But of course, we like to be different, so we’re doing it, with a twist.
In addition to the Unilife team wearing green attire – we were actually ‘going green’; as in, we are doing our bit for the environment and tipping our topper hats to healthy, happy living.
All day long, we have been giving away environmentally friendly, reusable Unilife water bottles and mugs to our students and visitors, as well as whipping up and serving out some free delicious, green ‘Unilife ultimate smoothies’, full of green fruit and vegetable goodness. Traditionally on this day, large quantities of black Irish stout, or Guinness, is consumed by many, but we’re going to stay focused and sip our green and healthy versions of the Irish velvet!
