Tips to Relax, Study & Enjoy the lockdown

It's Easter! Haven't you noticed? I can’t blame you!

These are uncertain times and we are delighted to see that everyone is following Government advice and stay indoors.

The team at Unilife have been busy thinking of ways to overcome lockdown blues. Here are our best tips to help you continue to relax, study and enjoy at this time.

Relax

Our mental resilience is tested when we are alone. You must stay connected. The most common apps need no introduction (FaceTime, WhatsAppWeChat or Zoom). We have tried HouseParty, and we love it!. A great new App to enjoy your friends a family in a slightly different way!

A healthy mind is part of a healthy body – Don’t forget to exercise both. Give HeadSpace a go even if you have not done any meditation before you’ll find it easy to follow. The NHS has also published some great gym free workouts. If you need some motivation, follow us on social media and check out our Live Streams from the gym with Kim, Frank and Dean.

For those that want to take a break from screen and online, this is the perfect time to finish that book or explore your creative self with some art crafts. Practice your cooking skills o try one of the many social media challenges online (be careful, some look dangerous!).

If you have tried it all, there is always Netflix! New releases that are the talk of the web are Tiger King, Money Heist and Contagion (I wonder why!).

Study

We are sure you have plenty to get on with – Here are some tips anyway:

Create a routine, and it helps your mind getting into the swing of things – We found a great app that would help you with this thankless task. If what you need is lectures or library books, most resources are available online these days – Get in touch with your University!

To keep your brain active, remember to use bright and vibrant colours to make notes. Use coloured post-it notes in your pinboard to brighten up your space and attract your eye to essential study pieces.

In need of inspiration? Have a look at TED talks – This Daniel Goldstein is one of my favourites.

Enjoy

Many production companies have moved to live streaming.

Theatre is one of those that you can explore – Have a look at a couple of options (Live ProductionNational Theatre)

If you prefer music, we have created a Unilife playlist to help you Study and Work out. There are also some live streams so plenty of options for your R&R.

Culture is also available online through online virtual tours. Check this one out! Edinburgh Zoo has got a new live webcam, can you guess who’s there?

Finally, brew yourself a cup of tea and have a walk through Buckingham Palace – keep an eye out for The Queen!

Remember, this will end, and we will return to normality at the end. We are often too busy to make plans involving those who love us. As most of our active live activities have been paused, time is something we do seem to have now. Use it to explore options on how to end the lockdown.

What will you do? We’d love to hear. Inspire others and share online with the #UltimateStudentLiving
