Did you know that the easter egg is a symbol of new life?
Eggs were used as a symbol in the Christian festival of Easter to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus. Traditionally, chicken eggs would be hard-boiled and then decorated by hand. Nowadays, most Easter eggs are made from chocolate and covered in coloured foil.
Another fact!
Easter and the holidays that are related to it, don’t fall on the same date every year – the time changes every year, but Easter is always on the first Sunday after the ecclesiastical full moon that occurs after 21st March – in 2020, it’s Sunday 12th April.
This year, many of our students remain with us during the Easter semester break, as they have been unable to travel home or can’t be with their families because of COVID-19, but this doesn’t mean that they will miss out on receiving sweet treats!
At the crack of dawn on Sunday 12th April, our Easter bunnies will be hopping around our Unilife buildings delivering chocolate eggs to each and every door. It’s an annual Easter tradition for us, and one that our students appreciate – we also deliver gifts to our students on Valentine’s Day and at Christmas – we love any excuse to celebrate with chocolate!
We’re pleased to report that during the current coronavirus situation, spirits here at Unilife are high. Many of our students are taking advantage of staying in and catching up on their studies, watching movies on our 32” SMART TVs or enjoying keeping in touch with friends and families online, which is made easy with our unlimited super-fast broadband. Of course, staff are on hand to make sure that their stay here is comfortable and safe, offering advice and support where needed.
